What Is Tallow?

Tallow is the hard fat that forms around the organs of a cow. It has been rendered down and used as skincare for thousands of years. The rendering process consists of melting and filtering until the fat is a clean, white color. It is full of vitamins and antioxidants that our skin craves. It works very well with most skin types, but just like any other product, patch test before applying to your whole face or body. 

Not all tallow is created equal. This is why it’s important that the label says 100% grass-fed. If the cow was grain- fed for most of its life on GMOs and microplastics, you do not want that tallow on your skin. All of my tallow goods contain 100% grass-fed tallow straight from the farm.  

 

Where it Started

This little business of mine started in my parents’ kitchen in the fall of 2022. After reading about tallow online, I decided I wanted to try it as skincare for myself. To my surprise, it worked and it worked well. The first batch was made from store -bought rendered tallow and lavender essential oil. I loved it so much that I made it for Christmas gifts that December. It was a family hit! I loved hearing how everyone was using it, some as body lotion, some for ingrown hairs, some as skincare. It worked for everything! I started an Etsy store in 2023 with some different variations of my tallow balm and it did well. In 2024 I updated my recipes with herbal infusions, better ingredients, and larger sizes which led to me creating this website. Now I have a few different tallow goods, a facial oil, and sun care products that I use myself on a daily basis. I hope you enjoy these products as much as I love creating them.
